Workshop Description
Many-a-times, sketching a complex cityscape becomes an intimidating task. Due to details that are very complex in nature, the process of translating old structures and busy architectural scenes in realistic forms is quite difficult.
Overcoming these challenges and still managing to capture the essence of that scene is possible only through skillful abstraction.
There are multiple ways of simplifying a complex scene using various elements and techniques.
In this workshop, participants will learn to see shapes, lines and colors as elements of abstraction and their application using different mediums such as watercolors, crayons, ink, calligraphy, masking of surfaces, etc.
Participants will also realize that understanding the approach of abstraction helps in exploring and capturing almost any subject like architecture, people, vehicles and streetscapes irrespective of the place and situation.
This technique is useful for rapid sketching especially while travelling.
