Ch’ng Kiah Kiean, born 1974 in George Town, Penang.
He graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia with Architecture Degree and now a fulltime artist based in Penang.
Kiah Kiean joined the global Urban Sketchers movement in 2009 and co-founded Urban Sketchers Penang in 2010.
He has been a sought-after instructor with Urban Sketchers in Brazil, Britain, China, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia,
Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, United States and Vietnam.
He published Sketchers of Pulo Pinang in 2009 and Line-line Journey in 2011.
Workshop Description
In this workshop participants will explore monotone sketch by using combination method of graphite pencil and watercolour graphite (the medium), pencil lines and Chinese calligraphy brush strokes (the lines), pencil hatching and brush painting (the texture).
