Marina is experienced Urban Sketching instructor, part of the Faculty at many USk Symposiums and other events. Sketching is one of Marina’s passions and she wish to share her experience, personal approach and inspire others to use urban sketching in a spontaneous way as part of their daily arts practice. Her favorite subject - sketching people, using mixed media. Marina wants to share with other sketchers the joy of capturing stories through people in motion!
For me there is no more interesting subject than sketching people, and of course the most fascinating part is - their faces. In this workshop we'll practice drawing portraits, but not in a traditional academic approach. We will think about how we see reality and will discover what is the essence of "likeness" in portraiture. We will try not to mechanically copy reality, but to observe the essentials from the artistic point of view, and to sacrifice the secondary. We will work fast, and base our sketches on live observation, getting in touch with our gut feelings with emphasis on the emotional side of sketching. We will try different approaches, get out of the comfort zone, have fun, and enjoy the process.
